Beginnings Blogfest: Why I Started a Monster Blog

Today is the Beginnings Blogfest blog hop hosted by Writing Off the Edge blogger L. G. Keltner.  The goal is to "write about a beginning that is important."  I've chosen to write about Precious Monsters

I have a thing for monsters, horror books and horror movies.  As an erotica writer, I decided to leave literary erotica and focus more on what I love.  So I decided to write in the  horror and paranormal genres with my first novella Litria.  (I haven't left erotica completely.  Litria contains at least a couple of sex scenes.)

To reach out to other readers of monsters and horror, I decided to start this monster blog on March 21, 2012.  It's been almost a year, and my page views have steadily increased.  In March, I received approximately 615 page views.  Last month, I had over 8,000 page views.  I know the page views will continue to grow as I reach out to fellow lovers of monsters.

Hi Jolie - So nice to meet you. So cool to hear that you're into monsters. I went to a writing retreat and over half the people in the class were into zombies--and their writing was pretty darned good!

I'll be looking under the bed from now on :-)

Love the book cover. Following your true love in writing (and combining a little erotica in there is definitely a big plus for me as a reader) sounds like the best answer to success.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Jean!

I'm always on the look out for a good zombie survival site because out of all the monsters out there, zombies are the ones that scare the bejeezus out of me.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey M.J., I try to cover a variety of monster topics here, but zombies are by far my favorite.

Monsters are fun! I'm always surprised when people don't like them, just because I've always been a fan.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Mina! Yeah, I totally believe in ghosts. There have been way too many ghost stories. Plus, something happened to my husband that was super creepy, and he's the last person to believe in that stuff.
