Z is for Zombie Books: Book Chick City's 2012 Challenge

Zombie books are the new black.  Vampire tales and werewolf stories were all the rage until zombie books pushed these creations aside.  Who knew that dead humans in search of live humans would capture so much interest?

I confess, I'm all about the zombie craze.  So much so that when I'm finished with my novella series, a zombie novel may be next on my plate.

However, I believe that if you're going to write about zombies, you need to be familiar with them first.  Stephenie Meyer wrote about vampires after barely reading a vampire book or watching a vampire movie.  The result were Forks vampires that didn't follow the vampire script.  She became a major success story.  So her plan worked.  However, if I choose to write about zombies, their favorite food won't be chocolate chip cookies.

One way to research zombie novels is to get involved in the Book Chick City's Zombie Challenge for 2012.  You have until December 2012 to read the books of your choice.  A good resource to find zombie books is to try Book Chick City's bookshelf at Goodreads.

Love a good paranormal movie or book. I've had quite a few paranormal experiences myself- thus the intrigue!

I use to watch horror when I was much much younger- haha! Don't think I'd get to much sleep if I watched them these days! Now I can watch some sci-fi!

I have to give the creators of those little monsters credit though - very creative!

New follower! Hope you will become mine!

From popping around various blogs today, it looks like zombies were a popular choice for Z (me too, although I went the movie route).

I hadn't heard of the zombie book challenge, so thanks for the head's up.

Congrats on completing the A to Z challenge!

I'm sorry but zombies are not, either "a new" or "the new" rage. They've been around for almost a 100 years. Everyone wanting to publish a book of their own.. now that's a new rage. And the zombie universe is great for that. All our real-life experiences from which we can draw inspiration for writing can be instantly transcribed into the zombie realm. Why write in metaphors when you can write around a metaphor.

The new crop of zombie books IS new. It doesn't matter how long zombies have been around.
