A is for Alien Abduction

Welcome to Precious Monsters!

First of all, I have to say that I'm pissed that this alien, who I thought was my friend, would go behind my back and jump on my blog, making bets with my visitors that I can't finish the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge.  But instead of bitching about him any further, the best revenge for me is to prove him wrong.

So let's get started with A!

Do you believe in aliens, and more specifically, alien abductions? Have you ever been abducted by aliens? What exactly is an alien abduction? It describes, "subjectively real memories of being taken secretly against one’s will by apparently nonhuman entities and subjected to complex physical and psychological procedures."

Here are 5 intriguing bits of information about alien abductions that you might not know.

1. Some humans can speak and write alien language

As reported at Alien Abduction Experience and Research,"There are a number of known alien alphabets, and some individuals are able to recall words or phrases."

2. Alien abductions are rarely reported

Says UFO.Whipnet.org, "The intimate, often times embarrassing procedures performed on the abductees are generally details they would only reveal in private. Public disclosure of an abduction can expose the abductee to public ridicule, loss of friends, and loss of livelihood. Just like reporters of UFO sightings, they are also labeled as a "nut." Many times an abductee will seek professional help in the form of "regressive hypnosis," a procedure to unlock lost memories. Some abductees have a type of tracking device implanted in their body."

3. You're more likely to be abducted when you are alone
"Abductees commonly find themselves having experiences when they are "alone," but not necessarily geographically isolated," claims Unexplainable.net. "The two cities the most abduction claims have come out of are LA followed by New York and its surrounding cities."

4. Actress and comedian Fran Drescher claims she and her ex-husband were abducted by aliens

"You know, it's funny because Peter (Fran's ex-husband) and I both saw [aliens] before we knew each other, doing the same thing, driving on the road with our dads," Fran Drescher tells Huffington Post. "We were both in junior high. A few years later, we met, and we realized that we had the same experience. I think that somehow we were programmed to meet. We both have this scar. It's the exact same scar on the exact same spot."

5. Alien abductions can run in families

Alien Abduction Experience and Research claims, "It is speculated the aliens study us the way we study laboratory animals for medical research. Genetic traits are passed along from one generation to the next. We are only now beginning to study this phenomena in people, but the aliens have been doing it to us for thousands of years."

So did you learn something new about alien abductions?

Hi Jolie, I'm absolutely spooked out by Fran and Peter's alien story *shudder* Think your theme rocks!

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Melanie! Thanks! Nobody wants to believe her, especially in her profession. So they just make a big joke out of it. But alien abductions are real!

Very interesting! I don't personally believe in aliens, but I do love the stories! Can't wait to read more!

Okay, now that's a lot of stuff I didn't know about alien abductions.

Let's prove the alien wrong okay? You can do it!

I'd like to think there are aliens visiting us. I just hope they're vegeterian.

Intersting post, hope to read more through the AZ Challenge.

Based on that definition if my cat were to hold someone hostage on our couch, and proceed to poke at him with her claws, has this person been abducted.

I suppose not. My cat's experiments are far too esoteric to be of use to anyone but her.

I will say I believe in aliens, but I'm not sold on the idea that they are out there, flying around just under our radar. But, you never know.

Hey Kayla! It's all good. I don't believe humans are the only beings in the universe. The universe is way too big for that.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hi Anna! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I do plan to prove the alien wrong!

Jolie du Pre said...

Hi Mooderino! Even if aliens are vegetarian, zombies are not. So...

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Stephanie! As I told Kayla, the universe is way to big for us to think human beings on Earth are all that is out there. Plus, way too many people, from across the globe, have said they've seen an alien. (Many of them describe seeing a specific type of alien.) They all can't be crazy or lying. Read Communion by Whitley Strieber.

Fran Drescher did NOT have to announce that she had been abducted by aliens. Her ANNOYING alien voice tells the tale.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Diantha! Yep, you got it!!

It is, however, notable that we don't find accounts of alien abductions described in those terms prior to the space race/general speculation about life on other planets. Abductions in the contemporary world, meanwhile, seem to 'occur' most commonly in North America. Alien life may well be out there, the sheer scope of the universe in fact seems to make it likely, but these elements seem to suggest that this is a purely human experience that has simply been interpreted in those terms.

Let me just start by saying my husband is a strong believer in aliens; me I'm open to the fact that we are probably not the only ones out there. Have they visited us? I'm not convinced one way or another...I'm open to the concept however.
Great subject!

Hi Stu! I've read that most abductions do occur in North America, however they have occurred outside of the U.S., as well. Harvard professor John Mack's work is one of the most respectable on the subject. - http://www.amazon.com/Abduction-Encounters-John-E-Mack/dp/0345393007

Hey Jen! I'm a believer. There have just been too many cases that I can't just chuck up as fiction. I'm not sure why we would assume we're the only beings in the universe. How conceited of us. LOL! Earth is just ONE little planet.

Jolie - you were so "cool" with your promotion of Precious Monsters that I didn't realize it was your site.

I *know* I've seen UFOs. Nothing will ever convince me otherwise. Therefore, I totally believe in the concept of alien abductions. However, my visit to Roswell didn't produce anything out of sorts.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Debbie!! ♥ You've seen UFOs?!!!! I'M SO INCREDIBLY JEALOUS RIGHT NOW.

Ayden said...

Eep! Another reason not to go out alone.

In all seriousness, I'm in the same boat as Jen. They probably are out there, but I'm not yet convinced that they're paying us visits. I'm not convinced they aren't either.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Ayden! As long as you keep an open mind...

You hooked me at "alien abductions" :) I'm so fascinated by the weird, paranormal, and unexplained. Great post and cool facts.

Joyce Sully said...

Ooh, I never heard the bit about it running in families before. That's interesting. I'm an open-minded skeptic on the topic and it's interesting just from the perspective of human psychology and culture.

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey there Resident Gamer! Thanks for stopping by. Yeah, I love this stuff!!

Jolie du Pre said...

Hey Joyce, Yeah, that sort of connection could explain why Fran thinks her husband was abducted, as well. They both have the same scar on their bodies.

Loving the new blog, Jolie! I've always been intrigued by aliens and the paranormal. I suppose living in an old haunted dairy farm/riverboat captain's bed & breakfast for a short time made a believer out of me! Keep up the great work! I look forward to your future posts! ~Angela

Hi Angela and thanks! My family and I are off to Scotland in June. We'll be staying in an old farm house. I sure hope it's not haunted.

I have never had an alien encounter but that isn't to say it's not possible. I am open minded to anything. Great posts. I can't wait to read more.

Your blog is fun! I am one of those non believers of paranormal....yet I'm obsessed with it. Maybe it's denial ;-) I am definitely going to be returning!

Hey C.S.M.! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words!! ♥
